There are a number of at home ideas for a bacterial infection, but one of the easiest to get and use is garlic oil. Garlic is a natural antibiotic. Those who do not have garlic oil can take a clove of garlic, crush it, and soak it in some olive oil for several hours. The longer the mixture is left to soak, the more potent the garlic content will be. The garlic oil should be applied inside the ear canal once in the morning and once in the evening for about two weeks. The process is rather simple. Put a couple of drops of the garlic oil in the ear canal and then rub the ear somewhat vigorously to ensure that the oil has coated the entire canal.
The other type of infection that is seen in dogs is caused by a build up of yeast in the ear environment. This usually takes place in dogs that have more hair inside their ears. The recipe for the cleanser is to mix equal parts of apple cider vinegar and water. Make sure that the solution is near body temperature for the dog. Use a bulb syringe or some other soft tipped object to flush the ear. Fill the entire ear canal and then rub the ear vigorously to ensure that the solution gets through all of the hair and is able to kill off all of the excess yeast. This should be done twice daily for at least a week. The vinegar promotes a healthy environment within the ear.

Prior to treating the dog, make sure that it is an ear infection rather than mites or some other parasite or condition that is causing the ear problems for the dog.
