SSDD #7 - Ellie Warren

This week I’ve rearranged the furniture and dragged in another table from the shed. There should be plenty of chairs to go around, so the first person to sit at the new table is Ellie Warren – book blogger extraordinaire and reading machine! Find her on Twitter, too.

1. Which author inspires you? Whether in your work, life or reading habits.

Sir Terry Pratchett is just the bees knees. Not only did his writing get me interested in fantasy but in more recent years, he’s been an amazing role model for Alzheimer’s sufferers and their families.

2. Which book has caused the biggest emotional response from you? (Not just sadness, but joy, anger, etc)

I couldn’t let go of the feelings instilled by Me Before You by Jojo Moyes. Not only was I left a blubbering mess at the end, I kept thinking about it for weeks and replaying it in my head. Like I could change the ending somehow! That’s a sign of a good book; feeling emotionally drained by the experience.

3. Which book do you wish you had written and why?

Is it cheating to say Harry Potter because I’d now be very rich indeed? In reality, I don’t have any aspirations to write a novel so I don’t think I look at books in that way. I’m not sure my favourite books would be my favourites if I’d written them myself. The joy of reading is partly peeking into someone else’s mind.

4. Go to a bookcase at random, close your eyes and point at a random book. What is the book and have you read it yet?

The Eyre Affair by Jasper Fforde which I have read. It’s a wonderful series for book geeks and I highly recommend.

5. What is your favorite book and why? (One you’d save from fire, take to a deserted island and recommend everyday of your life)

Just one?! I’m sure I could rescue at least ten… Hang on a minute, I will rescue my Kindle then I can take them ALL!
